BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU
What is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?

Why is it so effective?
Since its inception in 1882, its parent art of judo was separated from older systems of Japanese ju-jitsu by an important difference that was passed on to Brazilian jiu-jitsu: it is not solely a martial art, it is also a sport; a method for promoting physical fitness and building character in young people; and, ultimately, a way of life.

What do I need?
At Legion, we train with the Gi (See picture), a traditional uniform worn by Jiu Jitsu practitioners. It consists of a jacket, trousers and a belt worn over the jacket.
As a beginner you will wear a white belt, as you will achieve a promotion to different belts - this will be covered later on (Jiu Jitsu belt system).
We can loan you a Gi for your first few lessons until you buy one for yourself. We sell Gi's at the club shop, good quality at an affordable price.
